West Coast Custom Built Legacy Lakehouse

As the May long weekend approaches, signaling the unofficial start of summer, we can’t help but think about a favourite vacation home we recently completed on a remote coastal lake. Nestled amidst the natural beauty of British Columbia, this lake house isn't just a seasonal getaway; it's envisioned as a legacy home—a sanctuary where memories are forged across generations.

Our design approach centered on harmonizing the home with its natural surroundings, ensuring that every element resonates with the tranquility of lakeside living. Embracing the beauty of the outdoors, we incorporated natural materials to create a seamless connection between the indoors and the outdoors. Elements such as reclaimed wood beams, stone clad fireplaces, and rustic hardwood floors infuse the space with warmth and texture. These materials not only pay homage to the surrounding landscape but also age gracefully, telling a story of time and place.

Colour Palette

To complement the natural materials, we selected a neutral colour palette featuring soft earth tones, muted greens, and calming blues.

This choice allows the home's interior to serve as a serene backdrop, letting the beauty of the lake and its surroundings take center stage. Layered textures, including linen, cotton, and wool, add depth and visual interest, enhancing the overall sense of tranquility.

Expansive windows are a hallmark of this lake house, allowing ample natural light to flood the interior and providing uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape. To maintain these views, we opted for minimal window treatments, using sheer curtains and blinds that can be easily opened to create a bright and airy atmosphere.

Recognizing the importance of seamless indoor-outdoor living, we installed sliding glass doors that open onto a spacious patio, furnished with comfortable seating and dining areas. This design encourages alfresco dining and easy entertaining, enhancing the overall lakeside living experience.

This project exemplifies our dedication to creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional, reflecting the unique lifestyles and environments of our clients. As we welcome the summer season, we hope this lakehouse retreat inspires you to embrace the tranquility and beauty of nature in your own living spaces.
