New Ideas for Future Projects
Last month, Nicole and I traveled to Las Vegas for the largest Kitchen and Bath Show in North America. We were honored at the opening gala and awards evening for one of our projects—a custom-designed bathroom, "Sharing is Caring," created for two teen siblings on Vancouver Island. This recognition came from the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), which has 70 chapters across North America and thousands of members. It was truly a privilege to be acknowledged among such a broad community of designers.
KBIS, the trade show portion of our trip, is the premier event for companies in the kitchen and bath industry. It's where established suppliers unveil their latest products, and exciting new brands emerge.
Design Trends That Stood Out:
Texture, Warmth, and Color
Walnut herringbone floors and wood inlaid cabinets
Smoky blues, greens, and even reds in appliances and plumbing fixtures
An industrial influence across all new designs
Layered textures and transitional aesthetics
What Stole the Show for Us:
#1. Wood Tones
Rich, darker wood tones were featured more prominently than in previous years, showing up in unexpected places like Brizo’s Frank Lloyd Wright Collection, and in appliance pulls and cabinet hardware as seen in True Residentials booth.
#2. Oxblood / Bordeaux
A luxurious tone, seen in the millwork and tile at Monogram, and in natural stone with Kallista's freestanding tub and Emtek's hardware, both crafted from Rosso Lavonto marble.
#3. Health and Wellness
As the population ages, there's a growing focus on creating spaces that allow us to stay in our homes longer, without sacrificing style.
Kohler’s new Belay accessories collection is as beautiful as it is functional, while wellness options like cold plunge pools, saunas, and water-filtering showerheads are making home spa experiences more accessible.
#4. Sustainability
Cosentino, one of our favorite suppliers for slab materials, continues to lead in sustainability. Their new Qo collection is silica-free, composed of 90% recycled materials, and features hyper-realistic veining.
Nicole: Top Pick
Kohler’s new Billet Faucet Collection—a stunning design with industrial roots, available in a beautiful new Graphite finish that bridges black and stainless.
Trish: Top Pick
A collaboration between Donghia and Artistic Tile, where Donghia’s iconic textile designs were translated into mosaic tiles. The results are breathtaking.
It was an inspiring trip, and we’re excited to bring these new ideas and innovations into our future projects!
